Federation of Katyn Families in Czestochowa was established informally in 1943, when in the local newspaper were published list of the murdered Polish officers in Katyn forest discovered by Germans in mass graves.
Then the families on victims began to meet and communicate informations about their loved. This was the first such mass contacts, that have survived a difficult 45 years of communism. In year 1989 we can watch the changes, when the first officials federations were formed in Poland.
In our city, like the other gave the idea establish a new Federation, inspired by the late newspaper editor Janusz Plowecki. Anna Lechowicz, the daughter of a murdered engineer Jan Staniewicz has partnered with historians of Czestochowa and led to the association in April 1990.
